Midlands champions head North

Hope Valley Hawks RL will be heading North West this season as they take up a position in the Men’s Merit League.
Following two years of success – which saw them pick up consecutive titles – the Hawks are taking on a new challenge in the North-West merit league.
The Hawks are one of a few dual-code Rugby Clubs around within the community game and have developed both codes successfully on and off the pitch.
2013 will see the club move a step closer towards implementing the foundations which will see increased facilities and the development of a junior side.
Commenting on the move to the North-West League and developing the club, Hope Valley Hawks RL Manager, Scott Buckler said, “We have spent two years establishing ourselves within the Midland Leagues, however, we now feel we are ready to step up the challenge and take on more established clubs.
“The North-West is a hot bed for Rugby League talent and we are prepared for some tough challenges.
“As a dual-code club we pride ourselves on allowing both forms of rugby to flourish.
“This year we will be working closely with the RFU and RFL to develop both codes.
“I think there is an illusion that both forms of rugby cannot work together, but I would disagree and say that both bodies have helped us in our development.”
The Hope Valley Hawks kick their season off on May 4 at Home to the Bury Broncos.
